Metropolitan Forestry Services, Inc. began operation in 1976 as the dream of Dan Christie. Dan worked at a nursery in Columbia while attending University of Missouri Forestry School. After graduation, he became an Arborist for St. Louis County Parks Department in charge of tree maintenance, nursery and green house operations.
Dan became very active in the St. Louis green industry serving as President of the St. Louis Arborist Association, President of the St. Louis Landscape and Nurserymen’s Association and President of Midwest Chapter of International Society of Arboriculture and served on the Board of Directors of the Tree Care Industry Association. Dan acquired the credentials to become a Registered Consulting Arborist #338 (ASCA) and a Certified Forester #2156 (SAF). Dan saw a need for a professional quality oriented tree care company in St. Louis and started a single employee company, Metropolitan Forestry Services, Inc. It has grown over 33 years to 25 employees.
Dan’s depth and diversity of experience and contacts in the arboriculture industry provide a definite advantage in analyzing the needs of St. Louis tree owners.
Early on, Dan developed the Core Values of Metropolitan Forestry Services, Inc. that have guided the company through to the present:
